Calcium carbide (CaC, commonly known as calcium carbide) is a core raw material for acetylene chemical, metallurgical, and organic synthesis processes. Its core applications include the production of acetylene, PVC, BDO, metallurgical desulfurization, and calcium cyanamide.

I. Core Applications (by Field)

1. Chemical Synthesis (Largest Downstream, approximately 60%)

Acetylene Production: The core reaction is CaCÃ¢?? + 2HÃ¢??O Ã¢?? Ca(OH)Ã¢?? + CÃ¢??HÃ¢??Ã¢??. Acetylene is a basic organic chemical raw material.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Acetylene reacts with hydrogen chloride to synthesize vinyl chloride, which is then polymerized into PVC (pipes, profiles, sheets).

BDO (1,4-Butanediol): Synthesized from acetylene and formaldehyde, used in PBT, spandex, and biodegradable plastics.

Others: Vinyl acetate, chloroprene rubber, polyvinyl alcohol, dicyandiamide, and other organic chemicals.

2. Metallurgical Industry (approx. 20%)
Steel Desulfurization/Deoxidation: Removes sulfur and oxygen impurities from molten iron at high temperatures, improving steel quality.

Reducing Agent: Used in ferroalloy and non-ferrous metal smelting.

3. Agriculture/Environmental Protection (approx. 10%)
Calcium Nitrogen (Calcium Cyanamide): Produced by the high-temperature reaction of calcium carbide and nitrogen, used as nitrogen fertilizer, soil conditioner, herbicide, and defoliant.

Fruit Ripening: Acetylene produced by the hydrolysis of calcium carbide is used to ripen bananas, mangoes, etc. (small-scale use).

4. Others (approx. 10%)
Metal Cutting/Welding: Oxyacetylene flame (acetylene + oxygen) reaches temperatures exceeding 3000Ã¢??, used for metal cutting and welding.

Lighting: Calcium carbide lamps (acetylene combustion for light) in areas without electricity.

Electronics/Reagents: High-purity calcium carbide is used in electronic materials and laboratory reagents.

bmc2BMC molding compound is an abbreviation of Bulk (Dough) molding compound, that is, a bulk molding compound. BMC molding compound is often referred to as unsaturated polyester bulk molding compound in China. The main raw material is a dough-like prepreg which is sufficiently mixed with GF (short-cut glass fiber), UP (unsaturated resin), MD (filler), and various additives. DMC materials were first applied in the former West Germany and the United Kingdom in the 1960s, and then in the United States and Japan in the 1970s and 1980s. Application of BMC molding compound

Megatro provide 138kv angle tower for overseas clients since 2006. They are used in high voltage ac and dc power transmission line systems as well as railway traction, and come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Megatro fabricates this 138kv angle towers by solid steel legs and angle iron cross members & pipes. Structures can reach heights up to 200 meter, even higher as per client requirements.
