Bitumen 10.5 is also known as Boscan 10.9 in a high-quality heavy crude highly known and demanded in the world market for its high properties to be used as an asphalt base, with an APY of 10.5 and WT content with 5.4% average in widely used in Europe and Asia. The physical properties that distinguish this Bitumen, which is a Passed Crude, are its higher viscosity and density, as well as its molecular weight composition. Heavy Crude Bitumen from the Orinoco region of Venezuela has a viscosity of over 48,000 centipoise (10 Pa s) at 15�°C. A diluent is usually added at regular distances from a pipeline to facilitate its removal, circulation. In 2011, in the Orinoco Belt, a pilot project for alternating steam injection was started to improve the viscosity of crude oil, a technique that has increased the recovery rate to 40 percent, which was previously 20%.
