* Dehydrated Garlic Flakes are a convenient form of garlic that has been sliced and dried to remove moisture, enhancing both shelf life and flavor. Here's a comprehensive overview based on the information provided:
Production Process: The production involves selecting suitable garlic cultivars, harvesting, cleaning, peeling, slicing, and then drying using methods like sun drying or mechanical dryers. The dried slices are then ground into flakes.
Nutrition Profile: Garlic flakes contain essential nutrients such as vitamins B-6 and C, calcium, iron, and potassium. They offer health benefits similar to fresh garlic but in a concentrated form.
Flavor and Color: These flakes are known for their pungent flavor and aroma, which is stronger than fresh garlic. They have a pale yellow to light brown color.
Culinary Uses: Garlic flakes are used in soups, stews, sauces, meat loaves, and casseroles. They rehydrate in wet ingredients, adding a mild garlic flavor.
Natural Food Coloring: While not typically used as a food coloring, garlic flakes can add a subtle hue to dishes. However, theyâ??re more valued for flavor than color.
Shelf Life and Convenience: Properly stored in a cool, dry place, garlic flakes can last up to 12 months, offering a longer shelf life than fresh garlic and the convenience of easy storage.
Health Benefits: Dehydrated garlic is heart-healthy, helps lower blood pressure and cholesterol, has antibacterial properties, contains cancer-protective components like sulfur, and can lower blood sugar levels
