This organic potting medium, which is manufactured from natural coconut husk fibers, is not only perfect for hydroponics and mixed media growing, but it also works wonders to improve the soil. Clay soils are loosened by it, and its great porosity promotes the growth of healthy roots. Its texture is delicate and fibrous, and when dried, it does not crust.

The coconut husk used to make the coir planks is a renewable resource and the entire product is organic. You can start planting right away because the material has already been pre-washed and pH-balanced. After watering, the fibrous material settles quickly and exhibits medium drainage properties. The medium is consistently quite light. Throughout cultivation, its structure maintains stability with little settling.

Coconut fiber (coir fiber)

Coconut fiber, obtained from unripe coconut, is a natural fiber extracted from the husk of coconut. The coconut is steeped in hot seawater, and subsequently, the fibers are removed from the shell by combing and crushing, the same process as jute fiber. The individual fiber cells are narrow and hollow with thick walls made of cellulose, and each cell is about 1 mm long and 10â??20 ¼m in diameter, as shown in Fig. 2.6. The raw coconut fibers show length varying from 15 to 35 cm and diameter from 50 to 300m. When they are immature and then become hardened and yellowed because a layer of lignin is deposited on their walls. Coconut fiber shows a good stiffness and is used in products such as floor mats, doormats, brushes, mattresses, coarse filling material, and upholstery

Orange Tender Coconut:-

Orange coconuts are more bright and vivid the younger they are.

Orange tender coconut harvesting
Orange tender coconut harvesting
A Orange coconut takes anywhere between eight months and fourteen months to reach full maturity. The younger ones typically will have a brighter color, while the older ones become a duller shade. Older coconuts also typically have fuzzy fibers and have a thicker shell. King coconuts can be harvested starting around 8 months old, and are frequently hand-picked to ensure the quality that comes with its young age. This means that the King coconut will usually be sold when it is its brightest shade of orange.

Fruits and vegetables can be one color initially and change into a new variant over multiple generations both naturally and through human interference :-

Fruits and vegetables can adapt to their surroundings and change over time. For example, a scientific theory states that the brown coconut thousands of years ago had three palms in the same husk, but over time changed through mutations to end up having only one endosperm. Changes can also be induced through selective breeding. For example, carrots hundreds of years ago were initially purple, yellow, or white in color. It wasn¢??t until the 18th century when Dutch farmers purposefully cultivated orange colored carrots in honor of William of Orange. For the King coconut, it¢??s entirely possible that a genetic mutation occured hundreds of years ago to create the orange nut Sri Lanka is known for today and now in Tamilnadu and some part of Karnataka also available.

3. The King coconut¢??s orange color reflects its nutritional content.

As with any fruit or vegetable, the color signals the health benefits. A King coconut is orange due to a compound called carotenoids. Carotenoids can improve immune function and lower risks for heart disease, vision problems, and cancer. Folate, potassium, bromium and vitamin C are also found in the orange nut. The King coconut also has a higher volume of water than other coconuts and is often harvested to make coconut water. Additionally, the water is full of refreshing electrolytes while also having a natural sweetness due to sucrose and fructose.

Coir propagation block is a culture media used in nurseries for plant propagation, the growth of flowers and vegetables, and the germination of 100% natural seeds. You can create air pockets in your growing media by adding coco fiber. Since the fiber isn't particularly absorbent, it aids in maintaining oxygen access to the roots of your plants. Our coir propagation blocks are made with utmost care while selecting raw materials since the Kalium level plays a significant role in the germination process.

Coco peat (coco peat), also known as coir pith. Coir Fibre pith, coir dust, or simply coir, is made from coconut husks, which are byproducts of other industries that use coconuts. Coco peat primarily consists of the coir Fibre pith or coir dust which is obtained by processing coconut husk and removing the long fibers.

How to Grow Plants in Coco Peat

Processed coconut fibers are the byproduct of the coconut industry which, without its usefulness to gardeners, would otherwise be disposed of. As a growing medium similar to sphagnum peat, coco peat, also called coir or coir dust, provides an alternative to potting soil featuring high water retention, suitable aeration and antifungal benefits. Coco peat is not only a natural, often organic product, but also a renewable one with a slightly acidic pH that many plants prefer to grow in.

Don't throw away old coir used in planters. Dig it into your garden to condition the soil.

All seedlings benefit from hardening off, whether they are planted in coir or not. To harden off a plant, set it outside in a protected area for one week prior to transplanting. Bring it inside at night or if a frost is expected.
