AGO is one of the most traded refined petroleum products in countries such as Nigeria due to heavy reliance on diesel-powered transportation and generators.
For trading purposes, AGO is usually quoted in metric tons (MT) or liters, with quality specifications provided by an independent inspection company such as SGS or Bureau Veritas.

In West Africa, AGO = diesel at filling stations. Dangote Refinery now produces AGO 50ppm which meets Euro IV standards. 500ppm AGO was the old standard.

EN 590 is a standard published by the European Committee for Standardization that describes the physical properties that all automotive diesel fuel must meet if it is to be sold in the European Union and several other European countries.
Based on 98/70/EG it allows the blending of up to 7% fatty acid methyl ester biodiesel with 'conventional' diesel - a 7:93 mix.
Many countries in Europe require diesel fuel to meet a specific class in winter times. In Central and Western Europe the Winter Diesel (Winter diesel, diesel d'hiver) must meet Class F conditions at least from the beginning of December to the end of February. During a transitional period (mostly October and April) a lower Class must be met. In the Scandinavian countries the Winter Diesel (Vinter diesel) must meet Class 2 conditions. Some mineral groups offer both types commonly known as Winter Diesel (Winter diesel, diesel d'hiver) and Arctic Diesel (Polar diesel, diesel polaires).

EN590 Diesel (10 ppm) is a high-grade automotive diesel fuel designed for modern engines.
It meets EN590:2013 specifications and complies with European emission standards.
With ultra-low sulfur content (10 ppm), it helps reduce emissions and engine wear.
The product is commonly exported in bulk from Russia or Kazakhstan by tanker vessel.

Key Specifications:
- Density at 15C: 0.820 to 0.845 kg/m3
- Sulfur Content: Max 10 ppm
- Cetane Number: Min 51
- Flash Point: Min 56C
- Pour Point: Max -15C

EN590 was introduced to coincide with the development of new emissions standards across the European Union. The overall goal has been to reduce the sulphur content of diesel fuel. Sulphur had been used as a lubricant in the fuel. Its role is taken by special additives in ULSD.

Since 2007, diesel that conforms to EN590 has been referred to as Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) in the European Union. The phrase Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel is governed by different standards in other parts of the world.

EN590 describes the physical properties that all automotive diesel fuel must meet if it is to be sold in the European Union, Croatia, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.

The EN 590 had been introduced along with the European emission standards. With each of its revisions the EN 590 had been adapted to lower the sulphur content of diesel fuel since 2007 this is called ultra low sulphur diesel as the former function of sulphur as a lubricant is absent (and needs to be replaced by additives).

The quality of European diesel fuels is specified by the EN 590 standard. While these specifications not are mandatory, they are observed by all fuel suppliers in Europe.

Automobile diesel en 590 is intended for application in diesel engines. Diesel motor fuel quality meets the requirements of European Standard EN 590. For operation in the conditions of a temperate climate following marks of fuel diesel automobile EN 590 are offered: Grade C limiting filterability temperature -5 C; Grade D limiting filterability temperature -10 C; Grade E limiting filterability temperature 15 C; Grade F limiting filterability temperature -20 C. The entire volume of produced diesel fuel quality meets the requirements for fuels for vehicles of Euro 4 and Euro 5. Low sulfur content in diesel EN 590 reduces emissions of sulfur oxides into the atmosphere, which is especially important for for inhabitants of big cities.

Diesel EN590 (Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel) describes the physical properties that all automotive diesel fuel must meet if it is to be sold in the European Union and Britain. Since 2007 this is called Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel as the former function of sulphur as a lubricant is absent (and needs to be replaced by additives). Automotive diesel has national variants but the usual variants traded are EN560 and EN590 which are specified by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Paris. Ultra lowsulfur diesel (ULSD) is fuel with substantially lower sulfur content. Since 2006, almost all of the petroleum based diesel fuel available in Europe and North America has been of a ULSD type.

Diesel EN590 for diesel (in Europe) has been around for almost 20 years. However fuel, like most products, is subject to a process of continuous development and that development includes responding to legislation. The standard has been amended many times since 1993. It had been introduced along with the European emission standards. With each of its revisions EN590 had been adapted to lower the Sulphur content of diesel fuel.

The quality of European diesel fuels is specified by the EN590 standard. While these specifications not are mandatory, they are observed by all fuel suppliers in Europe. It is intended for application in diesel engines. Diesel motor fuel quality meets the requirements of European Standard EN590.

Diesel EN590 10ppm is a high-quality automotive diesel fuel that complies with the European standard EN590. The "10ppm" indicates that the fuel contains a maximum of 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur, making it an ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD). Hereâ??s a detailed description of its key characteristics:
1. Sulfur Content: 10ppm Sulfur: This fuel contains no more than 10 parts per million of sulfur, significantly reducing harmful emissions such as sulfur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter (PM). This makes it environmentally friendly and compliant with stringent emission regulations.
2. Cetane Number: Minimum 51: The cetane number is a measure of the fuel's ignition quality. A higher cetane number (minimum 51 for EN590) ensures better combustion, smoother engine operation, and reduced engine noise.
3. Density: 820-845 kg/m³ at 15°C: The density of EN590 diesel is specified within this range to ensure optimal energy content and efficient combustion.
4. Distillation: 95% Recovery at 360°C: This indicates that 95% of the fuel evaporates at or below 360°C, ensuring proper volatility for efficient engine performance.
5. Cold Flow Properties: Cloud Point: Varies depending on the climate (e.g., -12°C for winter grades).
CFPP (Cold Filter Plugging Point): Ensures the fuel remains fluid at low temperatures, preventing filter clogging in cold weather.
6. Lubricity: HFRR Wear Scar Diameter (WSD) â?¤ 460 µm: Ensures adequate lubricity to protect fuel injection systems from wear and tear, even with the low sulfur content.
7. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH): Maximum 8% by mass: Limits the presence of PAHs, which are harmful to both human health and the environment.
8. Additives: May contain performance-enhancing additives such as detergents, corrosion inhibitors, and stabilizers to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and maintain engine cleanliness.
9. Environmental Benefits: Reduced Emissions: The low sulfur content and high cetane number contribute to lower emissions of CO2, NOx, and particulate matter, making it compliant with Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards.
Compatibility with Advanced Emission Control Systems: Suitable for use in modern diesel engines equipped with particulate filters (DPF) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems.
10. Applications: Automotive Use: Primarily used in road vehicles, including cars, trucks, and buses.
Industrial Use: Can also be used in non-road machinery and equipment, provided they are compatible with ULSD.
11. Storage and Handling: Stability: EN590 diesel is designed to remain stable during storage, with additives to prevent oxidation and degradation.
Safety: Standard safety precautions for handling diesel fuel apply, including proper ventilation and avoidance of ignition sources.
12. Compliance: EN590 Standard: Fully compliant with the European standard EN590, ensuring consistent quality and performance across the European Union and other regions.
