How to light Charco Binchotan Charcoal Binchotan white charcoal can be very hard to light because of its high natural wood density, it may take up to 30 minutes to light, nevertheless never use lighter fluids as this will affect the overall taste of your food. The best and easiest ways to light it is by using a charcoal chimney and direct fire underneath or Place Binchotan in an old pot with holes in the bottom, directly over a naked flame (Example: sit directly on your gas cooker ring or butane stove. Make sure that the Bichotan is fully lit and coated in ash before proceeding to use.
Binchotan burns much longer than any other charcoal and can be re used. If you are cooking for only an hour or two, then our Charco Binchotan can be re used again on your next BBQ. Extinguishing Binchotan can be done in two ways, either by placing the Binchotan in a closed Kamado or by extinguishing the Binchotan in water and letting it dry naturally for a day.
