Frankincense is a hardened gum-like material that comes from the trunk of the Boswellia tree. People use its oil on the skin and in aromatherapy. Frankincense oil seems to kill some types of bacteria and fungi. It is commonly used as a fragrance in soaps, lotions, and perfumes. Frankincense, also known as olibanum, comes from select trees in the Boswellia genus, and myrrh usually comes from Commiphora trees. The plants belong to the same botanical family and commonly grow on the Arabian Peninsula, in India, and in northeastern Africa. Our products are organic from Puntland Somalia.

Beeyo is frankincense from Boswellia carterii / sacra, the classic olibanum of the incense and perfume trade. We buy it directly from harvesting families in the Sanaag highlands of northern Somaliland. It is graded at our facility in Burao and exported through Berbera.

The scent is warm and balsamic. The oil carries alpha-pinene and limonene, with the octyl acetate that marks this species. Beeyo contains boswellic acids, so it is the frankincense to choose for nutraceutical and wellness formulations.

Grades: Select Cleaned, Select Tears, Standard Cleaned, and Sortings. Every grade is sorted by hand, and Beeyo is never mixed with other species.

Supplied in bulk. Minimum order is 100 kg per resin. Prices are per kg FOB Berbera and depend on grade and volume. Samples are free; the buyer covers the courier. A certificate of origin comes with every shipment.

Maydi is frankincense from Boswellia frereana. Gulf buyers know the top grade as Amshaat. We buy it directly from the families who own and tap the trees in the Sanaag highlands of northern Somaliland. It is graded at our facility in Burao and exported through Berbera.

The scent is fresh and bright, with citrus and pine notes. Unlike Boswellia carterii / sacra, Maydi contains no boswellic acids. Its aroma comes mainly from alpha-thujene and alpha-pinene. It is valued for incense, perfumery and oil distillation, and in the Gulf it is also chewed as a traditional resin.

Grades: 1st Select (the largest, cleanest tears), 2nd Select, 3rd Select, and Powder. Every grade is sorted by hand, and Maydi is never mixed with other species.
