How do corona rings work?
Corona discharge occurs when the electric field (potential gradient) on the surface of a conductor exceeds a critical value, called the critical destruction voltage. The value of the critical destruction voltage varies with atmospheric conditions. The value is about 30 kV/cm. The electric field is greatest where the curvature is sharpest. Therefore, corona discharges occur first at the points of greatest curvature - i.e., suspension points, corners and edges. Corona rings are installed at these points to prevent corona formation.

Corona rings are electrically connected to conductors around points where corona discharges may occur. Thus, due to its smooth circular shape, the corona ring distributes the electric field (or charge) over a wider area. As a result, it reduces the potential gradient below the critical damage value.
Manufacturers typically recommend installing aluminum corona rings at the conductor end of string insulators for lines above 230 kV and at both ends of insulators for 500 kV.

In order to provide accurate oceanographic data for marine development and oceanographic research, Victory-way Electronic(Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. has designed waterproof slip rings and conductive slip rings for water cable reels. The underwater motor drives the winding drum to move the marine instrument up and down in the water, and the data can be measured.

The bottom-sea ocean profile measuring device is submerged on the sea floor, and the underwater drive transmission system is controlled by the multi-core cable connected coast station. The underwater motor drives the speed reducer to drive the rotation of the drum. The tether wound on the drum passes through the fixed pulley. The marine instrument is placed so that the marine instrument moves up and down in the sea water, and a plurality of sensors provided on the instrument measure the vertical profile of the marine data.

The bottom-sea type ocean profile measuring device is composed of a frame structure, an underwater drive transmission system installed in the frame structure, and a marine instrument moored on the drive transmission system cable. The frame structure includes a protective frame, a structural frame, and a cement base. The protective frame is fixed on the cement base and the structural frame is arranged in the protective frame. The underwater drive transmission system is fixed on the structural frame, including underwater motors, speed reducers, rollers, fixed pulleys and mooring lines. The underwater motor is connected with the rotating shaft of the drum through a speed reducer, and the drum is wound with a mooring cable, and the mooring rope bypasses the fixed pulley to connect the marine instrument located outside the protective frame.
