Refers to the short fibers that remain on the cottonseed after the longer fibers (lint) have been removed during the ginning process. Linters are removed in one or two cuts.
Types of Linters:
1. First-cut linters:
Longer and higher-quality fibers.
Sometimes used in lower-grade textiles, absorbents, or for further processing
into cellulose.
2. Second-cut linters:
Very short fibers, closer to the seed hull.

Cotton linter is the name of the fibers left on the cottonseed after the process of ginning. It can be either saw gin or roller gin. Cotton linter is the raw material of many sectors that use cellulose.
Our company is the main supplier of cotton linter from Turkmenistan.
Most cotton produced (90%) in Sudan is exported as raw material and accordingly forms an important foreign exchange earner. In 2011 175 thousand bales of cotton (480 Lbs. each) were exported. Cotton is also processed locally for weaving and spinning as well a supply for the cotton oil industry. Sudan produces 4 types of cotton namely, extra-long, long, medium & short staples. Productivity is around 0.5 tons/feddan.

Staple lenght can be 1.3/32 inches down to 1.132 inches. Some RG cotton is even longer reaching 1.1/8 inches,
