Petroleum coke, abbreviated coke or petcoke, is a final carbon-rich solid material that derives from oil refining, and is one type of the group of fuels referred to as cokes. Petcoke is the coke that, in particular, derives from a final cracking process, a thermo-based chemical engineering process that splits long chain hydrocarbons of petroleum into shorter chains that takes place in units termed coker units. (Other types of coke are derived from coal.) Stated succinctly, coke is the carbonization product of high-boiling hydrocarbon fractions obtained in petroleum processing (heavy residues). Petcoke is also produced in the production of synthetic crude oil (syncrude) from bitumen extracted from Canada's oil sands and from Venezuela's Orinoco oil sands.

In petroleum coker units, residual oils from other distillation processes used in petroleum refining are treated at a high temperature and pressure leaving the petcoke after driving off gases and volatiles, and separating off remaining light and heavy oils. These processes are termed coking processes, and most typically employ chemical engineering plant operations for the specific process of delayed coking.

This coke can either be fuel grade (high in sulfur and metals) or anode grade (low in sulfur and metals). The raw coke directly out of the coker is often referred to as green coke. In this context, green means unprocessed. The further processing of green coke by calcining in a rotary kiln removes residual volatile hydrocarbons from the coke. The calcined petroleum coke can be further processed in an anode baking oven to produce anode coke of the desired shape and physical properties. The anodes are mainly used in the aluminium and steel industry.

Petcoke is over 80% carbon and emits 5% to 10% more carbon dioxide (CO2) than coal on a per-unit-of-energy basis when it is burned. As petcoke has a higher energy content, petcoke emits between 30 and 80 percent more CO2 than coal per unit of weight. The difference between coal and coke in CO2 production per unit of energy produced depends upon the moisture in the coal, which increases the CO2 per unit of energy heat of combustion and on the volatile hydrocarbons in coal and coke, which decrease the CO2 per unit of energy.

Blown Bitumen 75/25 or Oxidized Bitumen or Blown Asphalt is produced by blowing hot air into the penetration bitumen. This action makes the bitumen more rubbery than its original formula and it becomes harder bitumen. This bitumen recovery the weight loss under heating. Due to low thermal sensitivity, the softening point is much higher than regular bitumen and the penetration index (PI) is higher than road construction bitumen (8>PI>2) due to the letter has a gel-like structure because of asphalt accumulation. Blown Bitumen 75-25 is Semi Solid grade of pure petroleum bitumen. Special physical properties of its grade can be used in different applications in the construction business.

Blown Bitumen 75/25 is produced by the air-blowing of penetration grade bitumen. This is done at high temperatures, resulting in a material of a much higher penetration index. RAHA Bitumen 75/25 is based on petroleum bitumen which is made by blowing bitumen 60/70 by very hot air. The designation of the Blown Bitumen 75/25 refers to the midpoint of the softening point acceptance criteria.

Some of the major advantages of Oxidized Bitumen are that it is completely water resistant, highly flexible and durable. Further, it is chemically very stable. Blown Bitumen 75/25 is a solid or semi-black solid material and gradually liquid when heated. Oxidized Bitumen grades are blown or oxidized Asphalt s which are produced by passing air through soft bitumen under controlled temperature conditions. Aviation Kerosene Colonial Grade 54 Jet Fuel JP 54: Jet fuel A-1.Jet fuel designed for use in aircraft powered by gas-turbine engines. It is clear to straw-colored in appearance. The most commonly used fuels for commercial aviation are Jet A and Jet A-1 are produced to a standardized international specification. Jet fuel is a mixture of a large number of different hydrocarbons. The range of their sizes is restricted by the requirements for the product, for example, the freezing point or smoke point. Kerosene-type jet fuel has a carbon number distribution between about 8 and 16 carbon numbers (carbon atoms per molecule); wide-cut or naphtha-type jet fuel (including Jet B), between about 5 and 15 carbon number. Jet A-1 is the standard specification fuel used in the rest of the world. Jet A-1 has a flash point higher than 38 C (100 F), with an autoignition temperature of 210 C (410 F).

Russian JP54 is an abbreviation for Jet Propulsion, A1, Colonial Grade 54. During the refining process only 15% of the crude oil is made up of JP54 the rest of the grade is used for different types of plastic. Developed by JP Morgan, Colonial grade JP54 was replaced by AVGAS also known as AVGAS100LL.

Actually most jet fuel exported from Russia is JP54 or Colonial JP54. It is similar to Jet A except the the Specific Energy is 18.4 mj/kg compared to that of 42.8 mj/kg of Jet A.

Light Cycle Oil (LCO) is a diesel boiling range product from Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units (FCCUs). However, LCO is a poor diesel fuel blending component without further processing. Oil refining is an industrial process which involves separation, conversion and finishing. FCC centered refinery uses Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) has the major conversion unit. FCCU is responsible for the production of petrol, LPG and Light Cycle Oil (LCO).

Diesel is the most important fuel used in automobiles because of its high efficiency. The global demand for diesel is increasing than petrol but many older refineries have optimized their plant for producing more petrol than diesel. Light Cycle Oil is the diesel boiling range material, which is produced in addition to gas and petrol in the FCCU. LCO is treated in the diesel hydrotreater (DHT) unit to produce low sulphur environment friendly diesel.

Production of LCO is increased in the FCCU by employing medium conversion mode rather than using traditional low conversion mode. Low conversion mode will cause a loss of gas production, deteriorate petrol octane rating and also increase the production of low valued slurry oil. With medium conversion technique both gas quality and quantity is maintained and improves the petrol octane rating. Medium conversion mode also reduces the amount of low valued slurry oil. Slurry oil contains LCO boiling range material in it; hence a separate slurry oil stripping tower is employed to recover the LCO from slurry oil.

It has a minimum flashpoint of 38C and a maximum freezing point of -47C.

JET A-1 is the principal fuel used for jet turbine engines. It is also used in general aviation for compatible diesel engine planes.

Jet fuel or aviation turbine fuel (ATF) is a type of aviation fuel designed for use in aircraft powered by gas-turbine engines. It is colourless to straw-colored in appearance. The most commonly used fuels for commercial aviation are Jet A and Jet A-1, which are produced to a standardized international specification. The only other jet fuel commonly used in civilian turbine-engine powered aviation is Jet B, which is used for its enhanced cold-weather performance.
