NAILI is a leading manufacturer of rotary vane compressors, offering CE & ISO-certified compressed air solutions designed for energy efficiency, durability, and low maintenance. Our compressors are trusted in transportation, industrial manufacturing, mining, pharmaceuticals, and other critical sectors worldwide.
Working Principle of Rotary Vane Compressors
A rotary vane compressor is a type of positive displacement compressor that efficiently generates compressed air by using a set of rotating vanes inside a cylindrical housing. These compressors are widely used in transportation, industrial manufacturing, mining, pharmaceuticals, and packaging due to their high efficiency, reliability, and low maintenance requirements.
How Does a Rotary Vane Compressor Work?
The rotary vane compressor operates using four key stages:
Air Intake
Ambient air enters the compressor through an inlet port.
A rotor with multiple sliding vanes is positioned inside an eccentric (off-center) cylindrical housing.
Compression Process
As the rotor turns, the vanes slide outward due to centrifugal force, forming sealed air pockets between the vanes and the cylinder wall.
As the rotor rotates, these pockets reduce in size, compressing the trapped air.
Air Compression & Oil Lubrication (For Oil-Injected Models)
The air is progressively compressed as it moves toward the discharge port.
In oil-injected rotary vane compressors, oil is introduced to seal gaps, cool the air, and reduce friction.
In oil-free rotary vane compressors, the system uses specialized self-lubricating materials for a clean, oil-free compressed air supply.
Compressed Air Discharge
The compressed air exits through the discharge port, ready for use in industrial applications.
