Types and Grades of Bitumen

Bitumen can be classified in different ways:

A) Classification Based on Source and Production Method:

It is a dark, viscous petroleum-derived binder with a penetration range of 60 - 70 dmm, providing a practical balance of hardness, flexibility and temperature resistance for general pavement applications. Blown Bitumen 75/25 or Oxidized Bitumen or Blown Asphalt is produced by blowing hot air into the penetration bitumen. This action makes the bitumen more rubbery than its original formula and it becomes harder bitumen. This bitumen recovery the weight loss under heating. Due to low thermal sensitivity, the softening point is much higher than regular bitumen and the penetration index (PI) is higher than road construction bitumen (8>PI>2) due to the letter has a gel-like structure because of asphalt accumulation. Blown Bitumen 75-25 is Semi Solid grade of pure petroleum bitumen. Special physical properties of its grade can be used in different applications in the construction business.

Blown Bitumen 75/25 is produced by the air-blowing of penetration grade bitumen. This is done at high temperatures, resulting in a material of a much higher penetration index. RAHA Bitumen 75/25 is based on petroleum bitumen which is made by blowing bitumen 60/70 by very hot air. The designation of the Blown Bitumen 75/25 refers to the midpoint of the softening point acceptance criteria.

Impregnating Pitch is a special low QI coal tar pitch processed from high-temperature coal tar through fractional distillation and vacuum purification. With low viscosity, strong permeability and high coking value, it is the core raw material for graphite electrode impregnation. It effectively fills the internal micropores of carbon blanks, significantly improves the density, mechanical strength and electrical conductivity of graphite electrodes after secondary calcination. It is widely used in steelmaking graphite electrodes, aluminum electrolysis carbon anodes and various carbon composite materials.

Summary - TTO Delivery Procedure at Lome Waters
The procedure describes a Tanker Take-Over (TTO) transaction where the buyer takes over a tanker carrying BLCO at or near Lom�© and then sends the vessel to the final discharge port.
SPA & buyer documents
Buyer and Seller sign the SPA.
Buyer provides company profile/CIS, NOR/ETA formats, boarding authorization format, inspector details, supercargo details, shipping agent and tugboat information.
Financial security
Buyer must provide either:
An irrevocable, transferable, verifiable and callable SBLC via SWIFT MT760, acceptable to the Seller; or
10% cash payment of the cargo value.
The SBLC acts as a payment guarantee if the buyer fails to perform.
Vessel loading
Seller nominates and loads the tanker with the contracted BLCO quantity.
Seller provides shipping documents after loading.
Vessel movement
Master issues the NOR and ETA.
Vessel proceeds toward the agreed takeover location in the Gulf of Guinea.
Arrival at Lome
Master sends a Notice of Arrival (NOA) from the vessel's official email.
Supporting documents include last port of call, sanitation report, crew list and nomination letter.
Boarding and inspection
Master issues Marine Authority to Board (MATB).
Buyer's shipping agent obtains the necessary clearance.
Buyer's nominated SGS/Intertek inspector and supercargo board the vessel.
