A capillary tube mat is a lightweight mesh of ultra-fine PP-R tubes (typically 4.3 mm in outer diameter and 0.8 mm in wall thickness) welded together. The mats are installed on ceilings or walls and embedded in a thin plaster layer, so they take up almost no usable space. Water at near-room temperature flows through the fine tubes, and heat is exchanged through the panel surface by radiation and natural convection. As a result, the room is warmed or cooled evenly, without any fan, duct, or blowing air.
The capillary tube mat system is a complete radiant climate solution. It combines capillary tube mats with a heat and cold source â?? such as an air-source or ground-source heat pump, a chiller, or a boiler â?? together with a manifold, a circulation pump, and a smart control unit.
