Our High Quality Arabic Gum is not treated by heat and is in its natural state and comes from a deciduous shrubby tree native to the semi-desert regions of Sub-Saharan Africa, in particular from Somalia/Ethiopia. Myrrh gum comes from a small, spiny, deciduous shrubby tree native to Yemen, Somalia, Eritrea and eastern Ethiopia which reaches a height of 4 metres. The base of the trees trunk is thick and looks swollen, stems like this are known as 'pachycaul', the bark is papery and can be reddish in colour to bluish grey; many gnarly thorny branches grow off the trunk. The trifoliate, elliptical to lanceolate leaves are pinnately compound, alternate and 5-35mm in length, they are mid green in colour with serrated edges. The 4-petaled flowers are 3-4mm in length and white to creamy white in colour. The resin exudes from the tree readily without the tree having to be cut or scored. Frankincense resin comes from a shrubby deciduous tree native to Ethiopia and parts of Somalia, Oman and Yemen, which can have several trunks and grows between 2-8 metres in height. The bark of the tree is papery, thin and readily peels from the trunk. All parts of the tree are highly resinous, although resin doesn't begin to appear until the tree is 8 years of age or older. The alternate and oddly-pinnate compound leaves are clustered at the end of the branches and are comprised of 9-15 leaflets which are serrated and pale green on the underside and darker green on the upper surface. The 5-petaled flowers are borne in axillary racemes that are 10cm in length and creamy white sometimes white to pinkish These products are 100% natural organic, harvested from wild trees naturally, with no damage to the environment, which is very important to Fodey Enterprises Ltd. This makes these products sustainable and responsibly sourced. We only collect what the trees naturally discharge and we don't allow these trees to be taped, as that damages the trees.

The resin obtained from the naturally and wildly growing trees of Commiphora guidotti is commonly known as Opoponax (Opopanax). The consumable resin can be naturally collected or in some cases extracted. The Nagaad Resins and Gums Opoponax resin is composed of three grades which are identifiable as grade A, B, C, but in essence the three grades are a result of the different regions that the Commiphora guidotti trees grow. The resin is naturally obtained and traditionally considered to be medicinally active. The main commercial application of Opoponax is in the perfumery and cosmetics sectors. Though people often find the taste acrid and bitter, the highly flammable resin can also be burned as incense to produce a scent somewhat like balsam or lavender. The resin has also been used in the treatment of spasms and, before that, as an emmenagogue in the treatment of asthma, chronic visceral infections, hysteria and hypochondria. The Opoponax resin is ECOCERT Organic Certified and is free from any contamination. The plants all grow naturally and wildly and Nagaad Resins and Gums employs sustainable harvesting and safe transportation techniques. The end products are counter-checked for quality before being released into the market.
