Premium Organic Vermicompost produced by YS Group (Terrace Farming), a nutrient-rich, microbiologically active organic fertilizer derived from the enzymatic degradation of organic residues by earthworms (e.g., Eisenia fetida). The final product appears as a loose, granular, dark brown to black powderâ??resembling moist tea groundsâ??that is odorless or possesses a pleasant earthy smell (petrichor), indicating complete decomposition and stability. It is screened to a particle size of 4mm or less to ensure uniformity and is strictly free from un-decomposed biomass, weed seeds, soil, and inert foreign matter such as glass, plastic, or stones.
chemically, the vermicompost is guaranteed to be mature and stable, with a Carbon-to-Nitrogen (C:N) ratio of less than 20:1, ensuring nutrients are immediately available to plants without inducing nitrogen immobilization. It boasts a rich nutrient profile typically containing Nitrogen (N) min. 1.0â??1.5%, Phosphorus (P) min. 0.8â??1.0%, and Potassium (K) min. 0.8â??1.0%, alongside high Organic Carbon content (>18â??20%) and essential micronutrients like Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc. The moisture content is maintained between 15% and 25% to preserve the viability of beneficial microorganismsâ??including nitrogen-fixing and phosphate-solubilizing bacteriaâ??while preventing fungal spoilage.
To meet international safety and organic standards (such as FCO 1985 in India or USDA/EU Organic), the product is rigorously tested to be free from heavy metals (Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury) and pathogens. It shows zero tolerance for Salmonella and E. coli, and extremely low levels of heavy metals well within permissible limits. The product is packaged in breathable, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or PP woven sacks with inner liners to retain moisture and microbial life, ensuring a shelf life of 6 to 12 months when stored in a cool, shaded environment.
