Test Overview:
In the BS 476 Part 6 test, the material sample is exposed to a triangular arrangement of flames and heated for a defined time. The temperature rise in the chamber is recorded, and the fire propagation index (I value) is calculated from temperature increments. Lower values indicate better fire resistance.
