Cilembu sweet potato is a sweet potato cultivar that is a local breed from Cilembu Village, Pamulihan District, Sumedang, West Java. Sweet potatoes have been popular among consumers since the 1990s.
Cilembu sweet potatoes are more special than ordinary tubers because when roasted, these sweet potatoes release a sticky, honey-sugar liquid that tastes sweet. Because of this, Cilembu sweet potatoes are also called honey sweet potatoes. If sweet potatoes are generally sweet, the sweet taste of Cilembu sweet potatoes is sweeter and stickier with honey sugar. This sweet taste provides extra energy for the person who consumes it.

Also known as Ubi Cilembu, Ubi Madu Cilembu, and Honey sweet potato, the Cilembu is an older variety that has had various names throughout the years and was officially recognized under the Cilembu name in 2001 by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. In addition to being sold as a fresh market variety, today they are popularly sold from street vendors as a baked snack food, simply roasted and wrapped in paper. They are also processed for use in the production of chips, jams, cakes, and syrups.
