Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid with an 18-carbon chain. The IUPAC name is octadecanoic acid. It is a waxy solid and its chemical formula is CHCOH.The salts and esters of stearic acid are called stearates.
Due to is vast applications Stearic acid is used as a lubricating agent In polymer industries such as Plastics and Rubber extrusion products. It is used as a food additive. Used in the production of detergents. It is widely used in cosmetics, soaps, and shampoos, paints, candle making etc.
