A rotary kiln is a rotatable industrial kiln equipment that uses a tilted and rotating cylindrical structure to complete physical or chemical changes such as calcination, roasting, and pyrolysis of materials in a high-temperature environment. It is a core processing equipment in the fields of building materials, metallurgy, chemical engineering, and environmental protection.
Core working principle
The core logic of rotary kiln is "inclined rotation+high-temperature heat exchange":
Material transportation and reaction: The material is added from the high end of the kiln body, and with the help of a 3-3.5% inclination angle and slow rotation (adjustable speed) of the kiln body, it moves axially towards the low end and stays in the high-temperature hot gas flow for several hours to complete sintering, decomposition, reduction and other reactions.
High temperature heat source supply: The kiln head combustion system burns natural gas, coal powder, heavy oil and other fuels to generate high-temperature flames above 1000 ºC. The flames work together with the kiln body to ensure uniform heating of the materials.
Optimization of heat exchange efficiency: The hot air flow comes into contact with the material in reverse flow (the airflow flows from the low end to the high end, and the material moves from the high end to the low end), maximizing heat transfer efficiency. Some advanced models are equipped with waste heat recovery systems, which can use waste heat from exhaust gas for material preheating and improve energy utilization efficiency
