Chemical Formula: (NHâ??)â??HPOâ??

IUPAC Name: Diammonium hydrogen phosphate

Appearance: Typically off-white or beige to greyish granules (prills). High-purity forms can be white crystals.

Solubility: Highly soluble in water. This is a key feature for its effectiveness as a fertilizer, allowing nutrients to be readily available to plant roots.

Nitrogen (N) Content: Typically 18%

Phosphorus (P) Content: Typically 46% as Pâ??Oâ?? (Phosphate). This is the standard way of expressing phosphorus content in fertilizers.

NPK Grade: Therefore, its common fertilizer grade is 18-46-0.

pH: A 1% solution has a pH of around 7.5-8.0, making it mildly alkaline. However, its long-term effect on soil pH is acidifying (see "Disadvantages" below).

Hygroscopicity: It has a low tendency to absorb moisture from the air, which makes it stable for storage and handling.

Density: Relatively high density, which is beneficial for even spreading.
