We are currently in the middle of the satsuma mandarin orange season and it is turning out to be a difficult season, for the following reasons:
The mandarin orange harvest has fallen by 20% compared to last year.
The raw material price, for satsumas coming straight off the tree, is €0.33, and seconds are priced at €0.15.
The raw material prices for clementines are €0.25 and €0.10.
The high demand and limited variety of active producers.
The 24/11 oz box sale price is around €13/box.
During the last two weeks, the few packers who are producing, have paid the raw material to 0.48€ per kilo. Cheaper because raw material has damages, due to last very cold weather.
