Iron Dust, commonly known as Mill Scale, is a by-product generated during the hot rolling of steel. It forms as a thin, dark grey to black flaky layer on the surface of steel when it is exposed to high temperatures in rolling mills. The material is composed primarily of iron oxides (FeO, FeO, FeO) and contains a high percentage of metallic iron, making it a valuable secondary raw material for various industrial applications.

Mill Scale is typically granular or flaky in texture, with particle sizes ranging from fine dust to larger flakes. Due to its high iron content, usually 70-75% Fe, it is widely utilized in steelmaking, cement manufacturing, ferroalloy production, and recycling processes as an iron-rich feedstock.

Iron ore mining methods vary by the type of ore being mined. There are four main types of iron ore deposits worked currently, depending on the mineralogy and geology of the ore deposits. These are magnetite, titanomagnetite, massive hematite and pisolitic ironstone deposits.

However the Fe% of every shipment may vary. If the iron ore shipped is at a higher or lower percentage than the Fe % Contracted Base, then the price paid for the shipment will escalate or reduce in accordance to the percentage of Fe in the ore that is actually supplied
