Calcium carbonate

Calcium carbonate (CaCO) is widely used in industries such as plastics, rubber, coatings, and papermaking. Based on production methods and physical properties, it is classified into Light Calcium Carbonate (PCC - Precipitated Calcium Carbonate) and Heavy Calcium Carbonate (GCC - Ground Calcium Carbonate). These two types have significant differences in production, characteristics, and applications.


1. Light Calcium Carbonate (PCC - Precipitated Calcium Carbonate)

1.1 Production Process
Light calcium carbonate is a chemically synthesized product, produced through the lime calcination and carbonization method:

Calcination: CaCOâ?? â?? CaO + COâ?? (heated to 900~1000�°C)

Hydration: CaO + Hâ??O â?? Ca(OH)â??

Carbonation: Ca(OH)â?? + COâ?? â?? CaCOâ??â?? (precipitation of ultra-fine calcium carbonate)

Smaller particle size (nano-scale, typically 50-500 nm)
Regular particle shape (cubic, spherical, or needle-like)
High whiteness and purity
Lower density (due to porous structure)
Better dispersion in liquids


1.3 Applications
