M-1 Clay

Calcined Clay or Refractory clay is obtained by Calcining (heating) superior-grade Clay at high temperatures (from 850o C to 1600o C).

This removes moisture and volatiles which thereby increases the Alumina content.

Compared to an Alumina content of about 30% to 40% in raw Clay, Calcined Clay has an Alumina content of 40% to 60%.

The Calcination is carried out in Rotary Kilns at different temperatures ranging from 850o C to 1600o C depending upon the customer's application.

China clay is characterized by its fine particle size, high brightness and rheology. We develop fine and ultra fine grades of Hydrous Kaolin from our best reserves, for various industries including Paint, Paper, Printing Inks, Paper board, Rubber etc. China clay is a natural mineral found in partly decompo-sed granite, an igneous feldsparic rock. Chemically, kaolin is a hydrated aluminium silicate containing Al2O3.2SiO2.2H2O. Kaolin was first discovered in the mountainous province of Kiangsi, China in A.D. 500. The word kaolin derives from the Chinese character kaolin which means high ridge. It was first used by the Chinese to make high quality porcelain.

Fire clay is a range of refractory clays used in the manufacture of ceramics, especially fire brick,
PropertiesHigh-grade fire clays can withstand temperatures of 1,775 C (3,227 F), but to be referred to as a "fire clay" the material must withstand a minimum temperature of 1,515 C (2,759 F).[2] Fire clays range from flint clays to plastic fire clays, but there are semi-flint and semi-plastic fire clays as well. Fire clays consist of natural argillaceous materials, mostly Kaolinite group clays, along with fine-grained micas and quartz, and may also contain organic matter and sulphur compounds.
Fire clay is resistant to high temperatures, having fusion points higher than 1,600 C (2,910 F); therefore it is suitable for lining furnaces, as fire brick, and for manufacture of utensils used in the metalworking industries, such as crucibles, saggars, retorts and glassware. Because of its stability during firing in the kiln, it can be used to make complex items of pottery such as pipes and sanitary ware.

Ball clay, or plastic clay as it is also known, is an extremely rare mineral, only found at a handful of locations around the world. It is a kaolinitic clay that commonly consists of 20 - 80% kaolinite, 10 - 25% mica, 6 - 65% quartz as well as organic matter.

Ball clay is formed from the weathering and transportation by water of parent rocks which are deposited in ancient river basins from where it is extracted.

Applications: - Ball clays are prized for the production of traditional ceramics such as sanitaryware, tableware, wall and floor tiles as well as for technical ceramics and electrical porcelains.

Ball Clay products are immensely used in the manufacturing of Ceramics, Sanitaryware, Vitrified Tiles, Glazes and Engobes ultramarine and in various other purposes.

Kaolin Clay - Raw (Crude)

We offer high quality Crude China Clay in the market. Like all clays, Kaolin or Crude China Clay is basically a hydrated aluminum silicate, plastic when wet and permanently hard when fired. "Clay" refers to a physical condition not to chemical composition. This varies with different types of clay. Huge mechanical shovels drag lines, tractors and graders ship the overburden of earth from the clay, then take out the crude clay itself for removal to the processing plant. There it is dumped directly or carried by conveyor into dry storage sheds. According to the moisture content, it may feel almost dry to the touch, soapy, or slick as mud.
