This element is vital for the electronics industry. Its primary use is in the form of powder for the manufacture of capacitors used in cell phones, computers, TV screens, digital cameras and other electronic equipment. On the other hand, in the form of metal, it is used, for example, in the manufacture of jet turbine blades, missile parts and nuclear reactors.

Brazil occupies a prominent position in the world scenario of tantalite mining, either as a reserve holder or as a producer; and the medium-term outlook for the tantalite market is one of relative scarcity and significant price increases. The total Brazilian reserves represent about 68% of world reserves.
