Plant traits
Herbs perennial, 50-80 cm high. The main root is deep, rod-shaped, slightly woody. Dry roots are cylindrical, rarely divergent, thick at the top, thin at the bottom, flat at both ends, 20-70 cm long, 1-3 cm thick, gray-yellow or light brown on the surface, all with irregular longitudinal wrinkles or furrows, weak and specific, slightly sweet, chewing with bean smell. Flowering from June to July and fruit from August to September. Mining in autumn.
