Mcu Shield Steel Coating

MCU Shield is a one-component, moisture-cured, pure aliphatic coating engineered by ThinTech Coatings for high-performance corrosion protection of steel and metal substrates in demanding industrial and marine environments. Available in a semi-gloss finish in clear and all base colors, MCU Shield delivers outstanding UV resistance, color stability, weathering resistance, corrosion protection, and impact resistance, outperforming conventional two-component polyurethane and epoxy systems. It is purpose-built for atmospheric exposure, coastal and marine applications, splash zones, high-humidity areas, and continuously condensing environments, and provides strong resistance to mildew growth.

Suitable substrates include black steel and mild steel, cast iron, aluminum and stainless steel, non-ferrous and metallized surfaces, galvanized steel, GRP (glass-reinforced plastic), and many existing coating systems. Typical applications include bridges and steel structures, offshore platforms and work vessels, marine facilities and ports, refineries and chemical processing plants, pulp and paper mills, pipelines and material handling equipment, hydropower facilities, and water and wastewater treatment infrastructure.

Key technical properties include an aliphatic polyurea hybrid resin, VOC content of 330 g/l, 64% (+/-2) volume solids, and theoretical coverage of 25.6 sqm per liter at 1 mil (25 micron) dry film thickness. Recommended film thickness is 80-140 microns wet (50-90 microns dry). Documented testing supports 14 MPa adhesion (ASTM D4541), 10,000+ hour salt spray resistance (ASTM B117), a 5,000-hour Prohesion test result of scribe rating 9.5 with no blistering (ASTM G85), continuous dry heat resistance to 145C, and passing results to Norsok M-501 and ISO 12944 C5-I standards. MCU Shield can be applied by brush, roller, air spray, or conventional spray as a one-component system with no pot life restrictions and no induction time required.
