1. Product Definition
Aluminum turning scrap (also known as aluminum shavings, aluminum lathe chips, aluminum milling chips) refers to granular scraps produced during mechanical processing of aluminum materials, including lathe turning, milling, drilling, CNC machining, cutting and grinding and boring operations. It is a core raw material for recycled aluminum production.
Morphology Classification
Filiform aluminum chips: long curled scraps from lathe turning
Granular aluminum chips: fine crushed residues from milling and grinding
Blocky aluminum chips: short cut scraps from thick aluminum blank cutting
Source of Raw Materials
Machining scraps of auto parts, aluminum scraps from engine cylinder block processing, surplus scraps of aluminum alloy profiles, cutting waste of aluminum mold parts, grinding scraps of aluminum castings.
Material Classification
Pure aluminum chips (Series 1 & 3 pure aluminum), alloy aluminum chips (6061, 6063, 7075, A380 die-cast aluminum, ADC12 cast aluminum chips). High-grade aluminum chips are free from heavy admixtures such as iron, copper, stainless steel, rubber and plastic.

Aluminum Content: High-purity clean aluminum chips: Al â?¥ 97%â??99%; oily aluminum chips: 90%â??96%
Impurity Control: Iron impurity Fe ï¼?1%, no sand inclusion, oxide scale, sediment or free moisture
Oil Content: Dry chips with oil content ï¼?3% (high commercial value); oily aluminum chips: 5%â??15% (requires degreasing pretreatment)
Oxidation Level: Fresh machined aluminum chips have a thin oxide layer; long-term outdoor stockpiling leads to increased alumina and reduced metal recovery rate.
Aluminum turning scrap is machining leftover aluminum chips from auto engine, aluminum profile and casting processing. Grades include pure aluminum scrap and alloy aluminum scrap (6061, ADC12, A380).
