Polyethylene Glycol 4000

Polyethylene glycol 4000 is a white waxy solid flake or granular powder, non-toxic and non-flammable, transported as general chemical and stored sealed in a dry place. It has strong plasticity, film-forming properties, and the ability to improve drug release from tablets. In coating stripping, it often used as an evaporation retardant, it is widely used as a binder for manufacturing tablets, making the tablet surface glossy and smooth, resistant to damage sticking. Moreover, its consistency can be adjusted by adding liquid polyethylene glycol, and it can be used as a suppository base, offering many advantages over lipophilic bases. For example it can be used to prepare suppositories with higher melting points that can withstand the effects of high-temperature weather; drug release is not affected by the melting point; and it has physical stability during storage.
