Dichloromethane

Dichloromethane (DCM), also known as methylene chloride or methyl chloroform, is a colorless organic compound with a pungent, ether-like odor. Its chemical formula is CH Cl. This compound is formed by replacing two hydrogen atoms in methane (CH) with chlorine atoms. It is slightly soluble in water but soluble in ethanol and diethyl ether. Under normal usage conditions, it is a low-boiling-point solvent that is non-flammable. Only when its vapor reaches a high concentration in high-temperature air does it form a mixture that can burn weakly [1]. It is often used as a substitute for flammable solvents such as petroleum ether and diethyl ether [2]. With good solubility, it is widely used in industrial fields as an industrial solvent, intermediate, and coolant. It also has important applications in pharmaceutical preparation, laboratories, and the pharmaceutical industry.
