Jet A-1

Jet A1 is a type of aviation fuel commonly used in turbineengine aircraft Heres a description of Jet A1 fuel

Composition Jet A1 is a kerosenebased fuel derived from crude oil through a refining process It is similar in composition to the widely used Jet A fuel with strict specifications to ensure quality and consistency
Color and Appearance Jet A1 fuel is typically colorless to strawcolored with a clear and transparent appearance It has a low viscosity allowing it to flow easily through fuel systems and into aircraft engines
Flash Point Jet A1 has a relatively high flash point typically above 38C 100F which reduces the risk of accidental ignition during storage handling and refueling operations
Freezing Point Jet A1 fuel has a lower freezing point compared to Jet A typically around 47C 53F This low freezing point ensures that the fuel remains fluid and usable even in extremely cold temperatures encountered during highaltitude flight
Energy Content Jet A1 fuel has a high energy density making it an efficient fuel for powering turbine engines Its energy content allows aircraft to achieve high performance and longrange flight capabilities
Combustion Characteristics Jet A1 is designed to burn cleanly and efficiently in aircraft turbine engines producing hightemperature exhaust gases that drive the engines turbines It undergoes controlled combustion within the engines combustion chambers generating thrust for propulsion
Specifications Jet A1 fuel meets stringent specifications set by international aviation authorities such as ASTM D1655 and DEF STAN 9191 These specifications ensure that the fuel meets strict quality safety and performance standards for use in commercial and military aircraft worldwide
Overall Jet A1 fuel is a reliable and widely used aviation fuel known for its consistent quality high energy content and suitability for use in a wide range of aircraft turbine engines from small general aviation planes to large commercial airliners
