The Kola nut is the seed of specific spieces of plant of the genus Cola, which was placed originally in the cocoa family Sterculiacae,but is now placed in the mallow family Malvacae, subfamily of Sterculioideae. The origin of this species are the tropical rainforests of Africa. Inside the treeâ??s star-shaped fruits are white shells, which contain the seeds or kola nuts. They contain caffeine and theobromine and they are used as flavoring ingredients in beverages applied to various carbonated soft drinks and can be added to milk shakes, cocktails, desserts or oatmeal.

They contain caffeine and theobromine (about 2-4%), thanks to which they have a stimulating effect, improve concentration and reduce fatigue. They are also an excellent source of potassium, polyphenols and vegetable tannins. Ground nuts can be added to milk shakes, cocktails, desserts or oatmeal.
