Leaf Spring

The initial stages in Leaf spring manufacture are:
* Cutting of Spring steel Flats into required sizes
* Punching of the center hole
* End-cropping
* Tapering of leaves
* Eye-rolling

After these stages the leaves are ready for heat-treatment. This includes annealing, straightening and tempering. The leaves are shot-peened, which operation creates a surface tension, an improves fatigue strength. Before fitting the bushes, the eye of the main leaf will be bored to close tolerance. The leaves are then ready for assembly.
