MMO Ribbon Anode
MMO Ribbon Anode
The MMO ribbon anode offers high conductivity while maintaining a low consumption rate, ensuring long-term, energy-efficient protection. It features a titanium ribbon substrate coated with an Ir-Ta mixed metal oxide catalyst. This MMO ribbon anode is designed for cathodic protection applications that require high current density in confined spaces. It can be directly buried in fine sand without the need for carbon backfill. Our mixed metal oxide ribbon anodes are ideal for new above-ground tanks with secondary containment linings, as well as existing tanks with double bottom structures.
Titanium conductor rods are commonly used in conjunction with MMO ribbon anodes to serve as inert conductors, ensuring even distribution of the CP current throughout the system. The MMO ribbon anodes are typically spot-welded to the titanium conductor rods at the intersections to create a grid pattern, minimizing attenuation losses. The anodes are then connected to the positive cable using mechanical rod connectors.
Advantages of Ribbon MMO Anodes
Consistent Current Distribution: Ribbon MMO anodes provide uniform and consistent current distribution, which is essential for protecting structures such as pipelines and storage tanks from localized corrosion.
Low-profile Design: With their thin and flat characteristics, ribbon anodes are easy to install in confined spaces and are well-suited for applications where other anode shapes may not be practical.
High Durability: The MMO coating on ribbon anodes is highly resistant to wear and degradation, ensuring a long service life even in harsh environments.
Versatile Applications: Ribbon MMO anodes can be used in a variety of environments, including soil, sand, and concrete, offering flexible protection options for a range of cathodic protection systems.
Cost-effective: Due to their efficient use of materials and long service life, ribbon MMO anodes provide an economical solution for long-term cathodic protection, reducing the need for frequent replacements and maintenance.
