We provide Vat Dyes, which are applied to the substrate in reduced and soluble form. This leads to oxidation of original insoluble pigment. Particularly common as anthraquinones and indigoids, these are also known as quinonoid dyes. Essentially insoluble in water and incapable of directly dyeing fibers directly, these consist of water soluble alkali metal salt. Subsequently oxidized, these original insoluble dyes are less suitable than fiber reactive dyes. Some home dyers find it difficult to work with as they require a reducing agent to provide solubility. A popular example is indigo. Obtained through oxidation, vat dyes are very bright and can handle bleach better than other kinds of dyes.
