Urea, chemical name carbamide, formula CO(NH₂)₂. It is white granular solid with nitrogen content of 46%, the highest nitrogen content among solid nitrogen fertilizers.
It is synthesized from liquid ammonia and carbon dioxide under high temperature and high pressure.
Application
Agriculture: Main nitrogen fertilizer, easily soluble in water. After applied to soil, it converts into ammonium nitrogen for crop uptake to boost plant growth. Widely used for grains, fruits and vegetables, available for base fertilizer, top dressing and foliar spray.
Industry: Raw material for melamine, urea-formaldehyde resin; also used for flue gas denitrification, feed additives, cosmetics, etc.
