BHARAT MERINO is a fine wool sheep breed. This sheep comprises 75 per cent exotic fine wool inheritance in the coarse wool breeds. The average weight at birth is 4.3 kg; at 3 months, it ranges from 15- 20 kg; at 6 months is 25 kg and at yearling stage is 35-40 kg. Bharat Merino rams produce on an average about 4.5 kg and ewes about 3.0 kg greasy fleeces per year.
