Coco peat is used as a soil additive. Due to low levels of nutrients in its composition, coco peat is usually not the sole component in the medium used to grow plants.
Coco peat primarily consists of the coir fiber pith or coir dust which is obtained by processing coconut husk and removing the long fibers. The coco peat which is obtained can hold large quantities of water, just like a sponge. It is used as a replacement for traditional peat in soil mixtures, or, as a soil-less substrate for plant cultivation.
Usually shipped in the form of compressed bales, briquettes, slabs or discs, the end user usually expands and aerates the compressed coco peat by the addition of water. A single kilogram of coco peat will expand to 15 litres of moist coco peat.

Coco peat or Coir Fiber pith is derived as a by product in the process of fiber extraction from the husk of the coconut. The eco-friendly material coco peat is a 100% natural growing medium.
Coco peat is dried under natural sunlight and processed to produce various growing mechanisms. Coco peat has a highly porous material structure.
The open field farming system declined in usage due to soil depletion and more individualized methods of farming. Peasants planted the same crops year after year to make a living; however, this ran the soil dry of essential nutrients, such as nitrogen. Gradually, the open field system shifted to a more-regulated form of crop rotation, in which fields were planted in three-year rotations. This type of system helped push agriculture toward the modern model of individual land-owning farmers. Farmers use coco peat blocks as a medium mixing with soil to fertile the soil in a very unfertile soil and mix with clay soil to loosen the structure. Both 5kg and 25kg blocks are coco pith product that can be used with a potting mix. The Material used for a coir pith Block is comparatively older than the material used in Grow Bags and Planter Bags. This material is aged within a period of 6 months to a year.
Advantages
It is convenient and efficient to use in drip irrigation which ensure no drainage of richness of the growing media
It helps plants last for a long time and also it helps nutrient absorption 100%
It is made from coconut husks From above the ground not from the ground so they bear resistance to root diseases.
It degrades slowly and can be used for long periods

The coco peat disc is generally used as a plant starter. These come in different sizes and expand accordingly, and can be made either completely or as a mixture of coconut husk chips and coco peat. The coconut husk chip sizes can be altered to the requirements of the customer. These can hold anywhere from 0.5l to 2l depending on the size
Coco peat increases the porosity of the potting mix. This helps to keep the soil loose and airy helping in better root growth. Better root growth results in better plant growth and higher yield. Coco peat increases the water holding capacity of the potting mix even as it increases the porosity of the soil.
