Fumed silica is the superfine micro-nano fine chemical product , which is divided into hydrophilic type and hydrophobic type in accordance with their different surface treatments, its appearance is white powder , native particle size ranges from 5nm to 40nm, with signficant functions of thixotropy, reinforcing, thickening and filling.
it is widely used in the industries of rubber , sealant, plastic , resin, paint, printing ink, papermaking, medicine, cosmetics food etc.
Features Of Micro Silica (Silica Fume) Micro Silica also known as Silica fume. It is a by product of producing silicon metal or ferrosilicon alloys in smelter using electric arc furnaces. It is a grey coloured powder, pozzolanic in nature. Applications Concrete Industry Refractory Rubber Industry Anti caking agent Pellet Binder
Microsilica (silica fume) is a by-product of silicon metal or ferrosilicon industries, is an amorphous silicon dioxide SiO2. This product reacts chemically with the calcium hydroxide in the cement paste which yields a calcium silicate hydrate gel that significantly enhances strength and durability. The super fine microsilica fills the voids between cement particles creating a very dense, less permeable concrete. Physical characteristics: Color: gray or gray white powder Bulk density: 320-700 kg/m3 Chemical composition: Items SiO2 Al2O3 Fe2O3 MgO CaO Na2O Moisture Content 75-98% 1.0-0.2% 0.9-0.3% 0.7-0.1% 0.3-0.1% 1.3-0.2% Fineness: the fineness of the silica fume is less than 1 1/4m, and the average particle size is 0.1 0.3 1/4m, and the specific surface area is 20 - 28 m2/g. The fineness and specific surface area are about 80-100 times of cement and 50-70 times of fly ash. Maxtech Micro Silica supplies will be as per QCS 2014 (ASTM C1240): SiO2: >/= 92% LOI:
Introduction Fumed silica is hydrophilic fumed silica(silicon dioxide). It is high purity and fluffy powder with typical specific surface area of 150g, 200g, 300g, 380g. Furthermore, it is characterized by an x-ray amorphous structure. Silica fume, also known as condensed silica fume or microsilica, is a spherical sub-micron amorphous silicon dioxide used in many applications. Silica fume is a co-product of silicon or ferrosilicon production, consisting of ultrafine (sub-micron), amorphous, non-porous, perfectly spherical silicon dioxide (SiO2) particles, with purity levels of 85 to 99 %. The main effect of these ultra-fine particles is to greatly improve particle packing and produce a highly pozzolanic reaction in concrete and other cementitious bond systems where the silicon dioxide reacts with calcium hydroxide, heightening performance levels and the strength and durability of these materials. Additionally, silica fume, because of its amorphous (non-crystalline) structure and its specific area, provides other useful features to various applications, including improved sintering capabilities and enhanced high temperature performance of refractory castables, resulting in reactions between microsilica and other components of the refractory mix. To summarize, silica fume has two key features which alone or in combination are the basis for its high performance: The nano-sized spherical non-porous particles create an efficient "filler effect" Primary particles have an average diameter of about 0.15 ¼m (150 nanometers) Microsilica is a highly reactive form of silica producing a "chemical effect" Thanks to its amorphous nature and high specific surface area.
Silica is mainly used as a carrier of agricultural chemicals. Finely crushed silica powder is coated with agricultural chemicals and sold on the market for agricultural use. Silica itself has no effects; it merely serves as a carrier, and so can be dispersed without affecting the farmland, which makes it advantageous as a core material. It's used as Fire-resistant product powder, Agricultural chemical carrier, Agricultural chemical carrier, Construction board

Fumed Silica is also popular as white carbon black and pyrogenic silica. Fumed Silica is non toxic, non-polluting, high-tech inorganic fine white chemical. In high purity fumed silica the silica content is above 99.8%. The particle size varies from 7 to 40 nm. This new ultra-fine inorganic material become a irreplaceable material due to its small particle size, large specific surface area, strong surface absorption, surface energy, heat resistance property. Production Process: Fumed silica is made from flame pyrolysis of silicon tetrachloride vaporized in 1800C electric arc. Available Grade: PME-SS-150, PME-SS-200, PME-SS-300, PME-SS-380.
