It is primarily used in the manufacture of flat steel, manganese-rich steel and stainless steel products for silicon manganese. The regular grade of Ferro Silico Manganese comprises 14 to 16 per cent of silicon, 65 to 68 per cent of manganese and 250 per cent of carbon. Special grades of up to 30% Si are used in the production of stainless steel. Ferro Silico Manganese may be used as a replacement for Ferro Silicon and Ferro Manganese when added to produce various types of steel. Both silicone and manganese have a significant impact on the properties of steel, depending on the quantity applied and the cumulative effects with other aluminium alloys. Silicon and manganese have a good oxygen sensitivity and serve as deoxidizers. The clean steel is a result of deoxidation with SIMn.
