Principal Design Features C-276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy. A prime advantage of this alloy is that it generally does not require solution heat treatment after welding. It resists the formation of grain boundary precipitates that would degrade corrosion resistance. Types HASTELLOY C276 HASTELLOY C-276 alloy is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium wrought alloy that is generally considered a versatile corrosion-resistance alloy. HASTELLOY C-276 alloy has excellent resistance to a wide variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizers such as ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated media (organic and inorganic), chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and seawater and brine solutions. It is used in flue gas desulfurization systems because of its excellent resistance to sulfur compounds and chloride ions encounted in most scrubbers. This was accomplished by use of a high chromium content (23 wt.%), a high molybdenum content (16 wt.%), and a small but effective addition of copper (1.6 wt.%)

Hastelloy fasteners are a combination of elements like nickel, molybdenum, chromium, cobalt, iron, copper, manganese, titanium, zirconium, tungsten, aluminum, and carbon in their composition. Hastelloy fasteners have good resistance to hot acids and excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. These Hastelloy fasteners are suitable for most water, wastewater, and drinking water applications. The high nickel alloy present in Hastelloy fasteners is compatible with fluoride salt at the elevated temperatures at which LFTR would operate, where each of these corrosion diagrams was constructed using various corrosion rate values which are generated at different acid concentrations and temperatures. These Hastelloy fasteners have good resistance to corrosion along with good strength. Hastelloy fasteners are available in various sizes, grades, and scales. Hastelloy C276 fasteners are the most common grade and it is one of the most corrosion-resistant nickel alloys for chemical applications. These fasteners have high performance and can survive in harsh environments. As it is a strong material with great corrosion resistance, it is widely used in nuclear and chemical reactors along with valves/pipes in chemical industries.
