Making of aisi 4145h alloy steel, this is a kind of dill collar which add three right out of spiral groove on the outer circle of ordinary drill collar when processing. The main effect is to reduce the drill collar wall in the area of contact and friction when working, maintain uniformity with the mud through spiral mobile, keep the balance of drill string and prevent pressure sticking. The single weight of spiral dill collar is 4% lighter than the same specification of ordinary dill collar , the two ends of the thread and the general shape are the same with drill collar. According to the form of spiral it is divided into type i and type ii.

A. Slick Drill Collar

Note: Drill collar is mainly used to provide bit weight to drill bit so that drill pipe is in tension. Especially drill collar can keep drill bit centralized and hole track by large rigidity. The Drill collar are manufactured strictly from API Spec7-1 and SY5411 standard.

B. Spiral Drill Collar

Note: Spiral drill collar is used to reduce contact area with hole so as to avoid efficiently bit sticking from diffirential pressure. The drill collars are manufactired strictly according to API Spec7-1 and Standard SY5144

C. Spiral Drill Collar With Elevator Groove And Slip Groove

Note: Elevator groove and slip groove made on box thread face of slick drill collar or spiral drill collar can be used as lifting sub and safety slip when trip out. The technical parameters for elevator groove and slip groove is as per API SPEC7-1. Hardbanding is optional at customersâ?? requests.

Non Magnetic Drill Collar (NMDC) are made from low-carbon stainless steel as API specification and implementation of SY/T5144 standard, which can be cold thread rolling, machine special double shoulder thread and do as other specifications request. Non Magnetic Drill Collar are as a housing for MWD tools and also could provide weight for drill string.

Test and Inspection carried out on each bar: Chemical Composition, Tensile Test, Impact Test, Hardness Test, Metallographic Test, Corrosion Test, Ultrasonic Test over the whole length of the bar, Relative magnetic permeability Test, Hot spot Test, Dimensional Inspection.

Slick/Spiral Drill collar is produced by AISI 4145H modified quenched and tempered steel as API specification and implementation of SY / T5144 standard, which can be cold thread rolling, copper or phosphate processing, machine special double shoulder thread and other specifications.

Product Description
Drill Collar is the basic component in the BHA which provide weight on the bit for dirlling and keeps the drill string in tension.Drill collar is manufactured from AISI 4145H modified quenched and tempered steel and is heat treatment along its entire length for uniform toughness and durability. Srict netallurgical test are performed pre specifications to ensure that the heat treatment produces consisitent and maxium hardness through the depth of the bar.
Feartures and benefits:
1. hardness rannge of 285 to 341 BHN and a charpy impact value of 40ft/lbs are guaranteed for evenly distributed 16 points in any cross sections at room temperature

Materials:
Drill collars are manufactured from AISI 4145H modified steel, and are supplied in the "as rolled" surface finish condition. Alternative surface finishes are available.

Trepanning and Heat Treatment:
Drill collars are trepanned and drifted to API Spec 7-1. Full-length heat-treatment processes ensure that mechanical properties meet or exceed API Spec 7-1 requirements. A hardness range of 285-341, Brinell hardness and Charpy "V" notch minimum impact strength of 40 ft-lb at 70 F are guaranteed one inch below the surface.

Traceability:
Drill collar material and process traceability are maintained from receipt of the mill's certified raw material to completion of manufacturing. Serial numbers are die stamped on bar bodies.

Rigid Inspection Procedures:
We inspect all our drill collars to ensure compliance with API SPEC 7-1 standards. These inspections include visual dimensional checks as well as ultrasonic inspections over the entire body of the drill collar.

Cold Rolling:
Drill collar thread roots, as well as elevator recess upper radius, are cold-rolled. Cold rolling creates a compressive recess upper radius stress condition that increases fatigue life by minimizing crack initiation.

Phosphate-coated or Copper Plating:
All connections are phosphate-coated or copper plated to improve resistance to corrosion.

Slip Groove, Elevator Groove and Size:
Lake offers optional slip and elevator recesses to improve handling efficiency and safety. Unless otherwise specified, slip and elevator recesses are machined in compliance with API spec 7-1 guidelines.
