Bitumen penetration grade 60/70 means the penetration value is in the range 60 to 70 at standard test conditions which commonly used as a Paving Grade. Bitumen is applicable for the production of hot mix asphalt for bases and pavements and for road construction.Penetration Grade Bitumen supplied by MERCO Bahrain. Its penetration grade ( the measure of bitumen hardness) is between 60 to 70. Bitumen is specified by the penetration and softening point test.Penetration determines the hardness of bitumen by measuring the depth to which a standard loaded the needle will vertically penetrate in 5 seconds, in a sample of bitumen maintained at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

Technical Data Sheet Bitumen 60/70 Paving Grade Bitumen Description Bitumen 60/70 has the highest-boiling point, heaviest and most polar fraction from the vacuum distillation of crude oil. Bitumen 60 70 is composed of asphaltene and maltene. The heavy insoluble asphaltene molecules give bitumen 60/70 its body and softening point while the maltenes are oily and make asphalt flexible. Asphalting molecules are soluble in aromatic solvents like toluene but insoluble in heptane. The maltenes are heptane-soluble molecules and less aromatic. Applications Bitumen 60/70 is a high-quality penetration grade bitumen used in road construction and other similar applications. Bitumen penetration grade 60/70 is semi hard penetration grade bitumen using as paving grade bitumen suitable for road construction and repair also for the production of asphalt pavements with below technical specification. This grade of bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses. Bitumen 60/70 is most used bitumen grade and basic material for all other bituminous products. Bitumen a black viscous mixture of hydrocarbons obtained naturally or as a residue from petroleum distillation. It is used for road surfacing and roofing. Bitumen is a mixture of Organic Liquids that are highly Viscous, Black, Sticky, Entirely Soluble in Carbon Disulfide, and composed primarily of highly condensed Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons. Naturally occurring or crude bitumen is a sticky, tar-like form of petroleum which is so thick and heavy that it must be heated or diluted before it will flow. At room temperature, it is much like cold molasses. Refined Bitumen is the residual (bottom) fraction obtained by fractional distillation of crude oil. It is the heaviest fraction and the one with the highest boiling point, boiling at 525 C (977 F). Petroalliance are involved in import and the supply and trade of Bitumen Oil. This oil is a dark and viscous liquid which is sticky in texture. It is widely used in road construction, waterproofing, paints, enamels etc. It is available to clients in different types of settings at highly affordable prices. It is widely acclaimed amongst our client base for its supreme quality. Uses of Bitumens Bitumen is primarily used for construction and paving of roads. Its other uses are for Bituminous Waterproofing Products, including the use of bitumen in the production of roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs.
Bitumen grade 70/60 is a grade of standard penetrating bitumen and is one of the most widely used bitumen types in the world. This type of bitumen is used as a material for paving roads. This exported bitumen is known as medium-grade bitumen for road construction and asphalt pavement production with superior properties and is used for construction projects. This grade of bitumen is mainly used in making hot asphalt as a mixture of bitumen and stone materials. The degree of bitumen 70/60 is determined by the penetration test and softening in a certain period of time. As you have noticed, the penetration degree is determined by the penetration test. Only performance parameters such as adhesion, rheology, durability and tolerance of a certain temperature can determine bitumen grading.
