As a secondary or final filter, HVAC pocket air filters are often used after (behind) a pleated filter. HVAC pocket air filters, also known as pocket filters and bag filters, are available in three degrees of efficiency: 65, 85, and 95%, or MERV 11, 13, and 15 ratings. It is often used as a medium&fine filter.
HVAC pocket air filters are constructed with galvanized steel frames and sections of synthetic non-woven fabric media to create pockets. The bag's flexible stitching helps to maintain the media's shape in a variety of airflow circumstances. The stitching is sealed with thermoplastic resin to stop any leaks.
There can be a specific number of bags in each bag-type air filter, such as a 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 pocket bag filter. They can be modified to meet the requirements of the relevant applications.
Applications
HVAC pocket air filters are ideal in applications where the air systems work around the clock, like a larger office tower, school, hospital, factory, data centers, etc.
In earlier applications without VAV fans, HVAC pocket air filters are also utilized.

Commercial HVAC Filter Material
Pocket filter media of HVAC system are mostly made of micro fiberglass or synthetic meltblown fibers. Filtration efficiency of meltblown mostly relies on electrostatic charge adsorption effect while micro fiberglass media is pure mechanical filtration. To choose what kind of filter materials and filtration class needs to be considered depends on specific requirements from commercial design.
Residential HVAC Filter Fabric Material

Pocket bag air filters can be made of synthetic pocket bag filter material or pocket synthetic fiber media blended with active carton, as well as the fiber glass pocket bag filter materials with various filter efficiency, mainly from F5~F9 (CRAA 430) or EU5~EU9 (EN779) or MERV9~MERV15 (ASHRAE).
The pocket bag filters often installed in HVAC systems, so also called HVAC pocket bag air filter, which is designed for industrial and commercial applications as well as for residential use to boost indoor air quality. Sometimes, the pocket bag air can be used for the first stage of the HVAC systems, but mostly will used as a secondary or final filter that behind a pleated primary filter.
The pocket bag filter material was adopted the nonwoven filter material with the relevant filter efficiency, for improve the dust loading and reduce the air resistance, the filter pockets will be divided into several small spaces, all the synthetic material will sealed with heat welding and the fiber glass will be sewn by sewing thread but the seam will be sealed with thermoplastic so as to guarantee the filter efficiency at the right requested data.
Made of %**0 polyester fibres with nonwoven structure which can be used for wide range of air conditions. Filters consist of highly elastic, tense, randomly arranged fibres. With decreasing fibre thickness, the filter medium becomes denserand finer towards the clean air side, whereby high level of separation and high dust accumulation capacity are achieved.
