The city lies in Jombang Region of East Java. Wonosalam is well known for producing Durian plants, cloves, mangosteen, cocoa, salak, and coffee. Since the Dutch colonizers introduced coffee in different regions of Indonesia, natives have been cultivating Excelsa at a large-scale in Wonosalam. Excelsa Wonosalam trees grow at the land of an altitude 1000 meters above the sea level. The trees require a humid temperature and little water to grow healthy. Usually, Excelsa elevates to 8 meters but pruned to 4-5 meters for harvesting. The farmers grow Excelsa Wonosalam organically by preventing the use of chemicals such as pesticides.
