Product Description Product Name: Safflower Oil (Cold Pressed & Refined) Plant Source: Carthamus tinctorius Description: Safflower oil is obtained from the seeds of Carthamus tinctorius by cold expression. It is then refined. Properties: Clear pale yellow to yellow oil with light odor and taste. Practically insoluble in water and in ethanol (96 per cent), miscible with light petroleum (bp: 40-60 C). Shelf Life: The shelf life is two years if unopened in the original standard 190 kg package. Once opened the shelf life of the oil is limited by temperature and light and oxygen exposure. Any remaining oil should be blanketed with nitrogen and used as soon as possible. Pesticides: Compliance to regulation (EC) 396/2005 on maximum residue level of pesticides in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin. The anti oxidant used in edible safflower oil is 0.01% propyl gallate, 0.005% citric acid. This has been found effective for stabilization against rancidity.
