Welcome to Gremlog Trading DMCC, where we lead the charge in sustainable solutions and innovation. Our premier offering, carbon dust, is a by-product of aluminium smelting that underscores our commitment to environmental responsibility. As the primary supplier for carbon dust production, Gremlog Trading DMCC spearheads this groundbreaking initiative. This high carbon-content by-product, derived during the production of anodes for aluminium smelting, serves as a remarkable alternative fuel for the cement industry. The utilization of 78,000 tonnes of carbon dust has translated into savings of approximately 36,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, signifying a substantial reduction in dependence on traditional fuels and a meaningful stride towards a more environmentaly responsible future. Going beyond the supply chain, Gremlog Trading DMCC actively engages in the processing and re-use of stockpiled carbon dust. This approach ensures that previously generated material plays a pivotal role in advancing the circular economy. We invite you to join us in shaping a greener future with our premium carbon dust a testament to our unwavering dedication to environmental responsibility and innovation.

The process of activation is carried out in two stages. Firstly the coconut shell is converted into shell charcoal by carbonization process which is usually carried out in mud-pits, brick kilns and metallic portable kilns. The coconut shell charcoal is activated by reaction with steam at a temperature of 900oC -1100oC under controlled atmosphere in a rotary kiln. The reaction between steam and charcoal takes place at the internal surface area, creating more sites for adsorption. The temperature factor, in the process of activation is very important. Below 900oC the reaction becomes too slow and is very uneconomical. Above 1100C the reaction becomes diffusion controlled and therefore takes place on the outer surface of the charcoal resulting in loss of charcoal.
